Mexico City. Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum stated that she has not yet sent the reform initiative to Congress for the implementation of the 40-hour workweek because she is seeking the broadest possible consensus between representatives of the business sector and union leaders.

President Sheinbaum said that work is also underway on the minimum wage increase for 2026, seeking to reach it through consensus. She noted that in many areas, they are striving to make decisions by consensus with the stakeholders involved, as is the case with the maximum price of regular gasoline or the agreement with supermarket chains regarding the price of basic goods.
