Tridonex Strike in Matamoros to Start March 6th

Workers at the Tridonex company are already preparing the red and black flags for the start of the strike in Matamoros, Tamaulipas; the new date has been set for Friday, March 6, at 11:00 a.m.
Susana Prieto Terrazas , the legal representative of the National Independent Union of Workers of Industries and Services Movement 20-32 (SNITIS), reported that this process will be carried out once the legal deadlines are met after the official notification to the company.
Prieto explained that initially February 24th had been proposed as a tentative date for the strike to begin; however, the Federal Labor Law establishes a different procedure .
“Compañeros, the law says it must be six days after the date on which the company is notified of the summons ,” she pointed out.
She explained that the case was initially filed with federal authorities in the nation’s capital, and the file was sent to Reynosa because there is no federal representation in Matamoros.
“Therefore, the conciliation hearing will be on March 3rd in Mexico City… If there is no agreement, as is expected, the strike will begin on March 6th at 11 a.m.,” she explained.

Only Paying the Matamoros Workers Can Stop the Strike
The former federal deputy, who in 2019 led strikes in the maquiladora sector of Matamoros within the movement known as 20-32, stated that the only way to avoid the strike would be for the company to settle its debts with the workers.
“Unless the company shows up in Mexico City on March 3rd and says, ‘I’ll pay everyone and there’s no strike,’ well then there won’t be a strike, but that’s not expected to happen,” she warned.
If no agreement is reached, the strike will take place in Matamoros, the city where this plant is located within the Finsa Industrial Park.
“So, March 6th, 11 a.m. is the strike in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Tridonex, see you there… I will be there, I will be accompanying you,” she announced.
The strike at Tridonex, where 1,300 employees work, of whom 1,011 are unionized, will depend on the outcome of the hearing in Mexico City, where it is expected that no agreement will be reached with the company unless it fulfills its obligation to pay the workers in full.
