Mexico City, August 24 (SinEmbargo).— Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), announced this Monday morning the arrest of 20 alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) during simultaneous operations at 36 properties in Hidalgo, Jalisco, and Michoacán.
Through his account on X, formerly Twitter, he reported that in the operations carried out by the SSPC, the Secretariat of National Defense (Defensa), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and the National Guard (GN), “firearms, drugs, 113 vehicles, tigers, panthers, other animals and birds kept in inadequate conditions, cash, communications equipment, a drone, and a drone jammer, among other items, were seized.”

“With these arrests and those carried out in the precision operation this past August 19, led by the Mexican Army, the number of members of this organization detained now totals 32,” García Harfuch stressed.
He also clarified the purpose of the Mexican Government’s Security Cabinet’s actions:
The goal is not merely to apprehend generators of violence, but to sustainably weaken the operational, logistical, and financial capabilities of criminal organizations.
