Communist Party of Vietnam Highlights Strategic Vision at Mexican Global Forum of Left Wing Parties

Mexico City (VNA) – A Vietnamese delegation, led by Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Committee in Cao Bang Province and head of the delegation of deputies from that province, Quan Minh Cuong, participated in the 29th International Seminar Political Parties and a New Society held in Mexico City from May 25-27, as well as in various work activities in Mexico.

Founded in 1996, the annual seminar organized by the Mexican Workers Party (Partido del Trabajo -PT) has established itself as a space for meeting and exchange among left-wing parties, social movements, and progressive organizations from around the world.

The meeting allows for the sharing of information on the current situation among participating parties and countries, the discussion of issues of common interest, and the coordination of joint actions in support of peace, national independence, democracy, cooperation, development, and social progress.

Hundreds of representatives from more than 40 countries across all continents participated in this edition. During the sessions, participants expressed deep concern about the current international situation, characterized by increasing armed conflicts and the rapid reconfiguration of the global political and security landscape toward a multipolar order.

Quan Minh Cuong, Communist Party of Vietnam

Speaking at the plenary session, Quan Minh Cuong emphasized that, amid profound global transformations, from armed conflicts and growing strategic competition to the polarization of interests, communist parties and leftist forces maintain an irreplaceable role in international political life, witnessing new positive developments but also facing numerous unprecedented challenges.

The Vietnamese representative emphasized that the leftist movement in Latin America has never had such significant influence as it does today, becoming a powerful political counterweight to the conservative trend and the imposition of major powers.

On behalf of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), he expressed his gratitude to the Communist, workers’, and progressive left-wing parties around the world for their accompaniment and support of Vietnam in the past struggle for independence and national reunification, as well as in the current cause of renewal, construction, and defense of the country.

“In the face of the historic changes of this era, the Party and State of Vietnam are making revolutionary decisions, embracing this task as their historic mission, a declaration of vision and political determination. Vietnam looks forward to the continued support, solidarity, and cooperation of progressive parties for a world of peace, justice, unity, and sustainable development,” Minh Cuong said.

At the colloquium, presentations from Latin American left-wing parties received special attention.

Tania Valentina Díaz, Vice President of International Relations for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), emphasized that the leftist movement must maintain its stance of independence and national sovereignty as the foundation of freedom, justice, and sustainable development.

For his part, the Cuban delegate emphasized that international solidarity constitutes the most powerful weapon against imperialism, while reaffirming his country’s determination to defend the achievements of the revolution and advance socioeconomic reforms.

Many delegates agreed that the defense of peace, human rights, and international justice must be the focus of action for the leftist movement in the current era.

Within the framework of the seminar, Minh Truong met with Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez, Secretary General of the Workers’ Party (PT), who expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s achievements during nearly four decades of Renewal (Doi Moi) and proposed measures to strengthen relations between the two parties and governments.

For his part, the head of the delegation appreciated the exchanges and discussions, which provide valuable experiences for the country’s development. He also reported that the Communist Party of Venezuela (CV) is actively preparing its 14th National Congress, which considers human resources as the fundamental foundation and science, technology, and innovation as key drivers for leading the country into a new era of development.

Regarding party relations, the Vietnamese representative highly praised the PT’s cooperation in recent years, especially in the dissemination of publications on the history of the Vietnamese people’s struggle and the achievements of the renewal process, reflecting the close relationship between the two political forces.

As part of the visit, the Vietnamese delegation also met with leaders of the ruling National Regeneration Movement (Morena) party and Sofía Carvajal, head of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) Foreign Affairs Committee.

Before concluding their agenda, the Vietnamese mission also held a meeting with officials from the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico and laid wreaths at the Ho Chi Minh Monument in Mexico City.
