Ex-Governor of Guerrero Ángel Aguirre Arrested; Accused of Hiding Evidence on the 43 of Ayotzinapa

Mexico City. The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) arrested the former governor of Guerrero, Ángel Heladio Aguirre Rivero, as the party allegedly responsible for concealing evidence in the disappearance of the 43 students from the Ayotzinapa teachers’ college.
The federal Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that the former Guerrero official (2011–2014) was apprehended “as part of the new investigation model, and the reanalysis of the existing proceedings in the case of the disappearance of 43 students from the Raúl Isidro Burgos rural teachers’ college of Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, which involved new investigative actions that made it possible to establish the possible participation of Ángel ‘N,’ former governor of that state, in the concealment of evidence to determine the whereabouts of the students.”
The FGR requested, obtained, and executed the arrest warrant against him.
