The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, confirmed to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo that he will come to Mexico, Foreign Secretary Roberto Velasco Álvarez announced.
On Monday, after the president’s historic victory in the electoral runoff, Sheinbaum Pardo reported that she had a telephone conversation with her counterpart. In it they agreed to meet soon.
Besides reporting that the visit will not remain an intention, “President Lula confirmed to President Sheinbaum that he will come to Mexico,” Velasco Álvarez reiterated that the federal government is glad about the Brazilian leader’s victory.
In addition, several projects are being promoted jointly, “both on the multilateral and the commercial level, with the aim of continuing to strengthen our partnership in Latin America.”
We are promoting several projects jointly; the most relevant is a strategic alliance between Pemex and Petrobras. Of course, our laws and our Constitution establish certain limits, but we are working with them within this framework.
