Over 11,000 Labour Complaints Registered on Mexico’s New Platform

Mexico City. Two months after its launch, workers have filed more than 11,000 complaints for possible violations of their labor rights through the digital platform enabled by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS).
Of the 11,800 complaints registered with the System of Complaints and Workplace Accidents (SIQAL), 86 percent correspond to complaints, 10.6 percent are non-compliance with collective and/or individual contracts and 3.4 percent are accidents.
According to information from the STPS, the most frequent complaints made by workers in Mexico are related to salary payments, minimum wage, Christmas bonus, working hours, non-payment of profits, or partial payment of profit sharing; these are the main indicators and represent 70 percent of labor violations.
SIQAL strengthens the STPS Annual Inspection Program by offering a more precise, transparent and automated management mechanism, which allows for timely follow-up on each case.
With this platform, workers, unions, and citizens can file complaints quickly, anonymously, and securely, and track them in real time.
Unlike previous channels—such as emails, calls, or in-person reports—SIQAL centralizes and systematizes information, facilitating the control and traceability of each complaint, the STPS indicated.
The system automates the entire service process, from reception to the conclusion of the inspection, including response times, assignment of responsible areas, verifications, supervisions and, where applicable, sanctions.
Each stage is recorded, generating a transparent map of the complete inspection cycle.
It also introduces a traffic light system that allows users to know the status of each complaint—handled, in process, or completed—, avoiding backlogs, delays, or discretion in the service.
