Sheinbaum Highlights PAN’s Distancing From Fox Over Remarks on the 2006 Fraud; How Interesting, Now They Don’t Want Him to Talk

Mexico City. In response to the distancing made by the president of the PAN, Jorge Romero, from Vicente Fox over his participation in the 2006 electoral fraud, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo asserted that the doctrine of the right is hypocrisy, as Carlos Monsiváis said.

She noted that the distancing is “very interesting,” after this PAN leadership “re-invited” Fox, whose statement about those elections “is very relevant,” because:

When we denounced the 2006 fraud, they treated us like we were crazy. Of course there was fraud.

At her press conference, she was ironic about the expression used by Luis Carlos Ugalde, former president councilor of the then Federal Electoral Institute, that Fox “should not talk anymore, please.”

The President charged that the PAN member governed the country “as if it were a business” and now “we find out from Vicente Fox himself that yes, yes, he did commit electoral fraud, that he participated, that he never would have handed the presidential sash to (Andrés Manuel) López Obrador.” It is very interesting, she pointed out, that “now the PAN says: oh, no, no more Fox, the one we brought in to help us with the next election; no, better we distance ourselves from him because he talks too much.”
