In June, 106 Missing Persons Were Located in Tamaulipas

Tampico, Tamaulipas. Authorities located 165 people reported as missing in Tamaulipas during June, of whom 100 had search records opened months or years earlier, the State Security Spokesperson’s Office reported. According to the official report, 62 of the people had been reported missing during the same month, while three more were found through actions coordinated with authorities from other states in the country.

The Attorney General’s Office of Tamaulipas reported that in 84 percent of the cases in which people were located, the commission of a crime was not established, following the ministerial investigations carried out in each case file.

The search efforts were carried out through operations coordinated among the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense, the National Guard, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, the National Intelligence Center, and the state prosecutor’s office, with support from personnel specialized in the search for missing persons and forensic services.

According to the Spokesperson’s Office, the investigations included field searches, information analysis, interviews, and forensic reports to establish the circumstances in which the people were located and to determine whether any crime had been committed.

Authorities noted that, after being found, the people receive institutional care and support in accordance with the protocols established for the protection of their rights.

The state government headed by Américo Villarreal Anaya maintained that the search mechanisms remain active to address both recent reports and accumulated cases from previous years.

The Security Spokesperson’s Office urged the public to provide information that helps locate missing persons through the official reporting channels.
