The six Mexicans who remained detained in Israel after participating in the Sumud Global Flotilla began their repatriation to Mexico on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reported.

In a statement published on its official X account, the Foreign Ministry detailed that Sol González Eguía, Ernesto Ledesma Arronte, Arlín Medrano Guzmán, Carlos Pérez Osorio, Diego Vázquez Galindo and Laura Alejandra Veléz Ruiz Gaitán were transferred from Israel to Amman, Jordan, where they were received by the Mexican ambassador to that country.

The Mexican ambassador to Israel, Mauricio Escanero, also participated in the operation and will accompany the group until their arrival in Mexico City, the agency stated.

The compatriots were part of a humanitarian mission in Gaza as members of the Global Sumud Flotilla, an international initiative that seeks to deliver aid and raise awareness of the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian enclave. They were detained by Israeli authorities in recent days and held in the Ktziot detention center, where they received consular assistance and accompaniment.

On Sunday, the Palestinian solidarity movement held a banner demanding Mexico break relations with israel at President Claudia Sheinbaum’s speech in Mexico City’s Zócalo commemorating her first year in office.

The Mexican Foreign Ministry thanked the Jordanian government for its cooperation and diplomatic efforts that allowed the Jordanians to enter the country, a necessary step toward their return.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) has remained in constant contact with the families of the Mexicans being repatriated and reiterates that its priority is to guarantee the safety and physical integrity of all Mexicans abroad,” the agency stated.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that it will continue to provide consular assistance to the repatriated individuals until their arrival in Mexico, where they are expected to arrive in the coming hours.
