US Ambassador Called to Mexican Foreign Ministry to Address Violent Attack on Alleged ‘Drug Boat’ in Eastern Pacific

Mexico City. The United States ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, visited the Mexican Foreign Ministry this afternoon where he will meet with Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente and Secretary of the Navy Raymundo Morales regarding the attack on a boat allegedly transporting drugs in international waters in the eastern Pacific.
This meeting takes place after President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced in the morning that the US diplomat would be summoned regarding her government’s attack on a suspected “narco-boat,” which left 14 dead and one survivor. This is the first time the Mexican government has summoned the US ambassador in the context of these attacks.
According to Washington authorities, members of the Mexican Navy are expected to rescue the person who survived this latest attack by the United States.
Vehicles with diplomatic license plates, as well as vans and patrol cars bearing the Navy logo, are located near the Foreign Ministry headquarters.
