War Arsenal Seized in Durango with Barrett Rifles, Machine Guns, and Over 39,000 Cartridges

Durango, Dgo. Members of the Mexican Army and the National Guard continue with operations in the state of Durango. On this occasion, in two actions carried out this week, they seized more than 40 firearms, among them a Barrett rifle, eight machine guns, and more than 39,000 usable cartridges.

The most important seizure took place on Wednesday, June 17, at a rural ranch in the municipality of Durango, where authorities confiscated a Barrett rifle, eight machine guns, 22 long firearms, three short firearms, two grenade launchers, and one grenade-launcher attachment.

In addition, federal forces seized 1,174 magazines, 36,488 usable cartridges, various doses of drugs, 59 helmets, 10 tactical vests, eight ballistic plates, six vehicles, and one ATV.

A day earlier, on Tuesday, June 16, during surveillance patrols in the mountain municipality of San Dimas, military personnel and National Guard members located another arsenal made up of 10 long firearms, one barrel tube for a long firearm, 85 magazines, and 2,570 usable cartridges, in addition to tactical and technological gear.

All the weapons, ammunition, equipment, and vehicles seized were turned over to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), which has opened the corresponding investigations.

Through both operations, federal forces removed from circulation more than 39,000 cartridges, close to 1,260 magazines, and over 40 firearms of various calibers in Durango territory.
