Mexico City. During the second half of this year, an upturn in the country’s economic indicators is projected, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo affirmed. “We are going to do better in the second half; there are already some second-quarter indicators, and from now on, July toward December, there will be better indicators.”
She maintained that the housing-for-wellbeing program is helping to “move” those indicators, even though it “has not yet reached its peak of job creation.”
During her Monday press conference, she explained that the auto-parts and manufacturing sectors are growing significantly, mainly the manufacture of electronics.
Referring to the country’s record automobile sales according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), the president said this “speaks to the purchasing capacity that exists; consumption is boosted,” and she linked it to the goals set out within Plan México to produce more for the domestic market.
Meanwhile, she recalled that on July 20 a team from the U.S. government will come to the country to continue the conversations on the review of the Treaty on Trade between Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
“We continue in dialogue with the U.S. government with the idea that it not create uncertainty, but rather that investment be guaranteed for this and coming years,” she added.
