Michoacán Plan: Well-being to Advance Toward Peace
One year in, the plan is 67% complete, with an investment of over 72.43 billion pesos (US$3.9 billion). “We must continue working to move forward and achieve peace and security,” said President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Michoacán: Decent Healthcare and Housing for the People
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) administered 2.5 million vaccines, provided 502,000 medical consultations, and is building two hospitals. The Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) has added 33 new clinics to its total and is carrying out construction projects involving an investment of over 1.13 billion pesos (US$61.02 million). With nearly 12 billion pesos (US$650 million), the “Housing for Well-being” program is making progress toward its goal of 82,000 homes to guarantee recipients the right to a home of their own.
U.S. Elections: Mexican Pride and the Link to Sovereignty
The President highlighted the victories of Xavier Becerra in California and Gina Hinojosa in Texas, citing their ties to Mexico and Mexican-American participation in the elections. The result “reflects the sentiment of the American people,” Sheinbaum stated.
INE: From the Pact for Mexico to Contract Duopoly
“What moral authority does Ugalde have to speak of democracy? None,” Sheinbaum declared, in reference to the former president of the National Electoral Institute (INE). She held him responsible for the 2006 electoral fraud and questioned why its former president Lorenzo Córdova did not put a stop to the duopoly at the INE. She criticized the 2014 reform, stemming from the Pact for Mexico, for concentrating the appointment of state election council board members within the INE. The President called on the Federal Superior Audit Department (ASF) to investigate contracts dating back to before 2023 and to clarify who had favored those companies for more than 20 years.
