Rubio Announces Visa Restrictions for Central Americans Who “act on behalf of China”
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Thursday a new visa restriction policy for Central American citizens who “intentionally act on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party.” [sic]
The State Department justified the measures in a press release, stating that the country “is determined to counter China’s corrupt influence in Central America and halt its attempts to subvert the rule of law.”
He added that these are actions that “reaffirm President (Donald) Trump’s commitment to protecting economic prosperity and national security interests.”
Rubio warned that Washington will continue to promote accountability for Central American citizens who intentionally collaborate with the CCP in Central America “with the goal of destabilizing the hemisphere.”
