Mexicans Kidnapped by israel to be Repatriated

Mexico City. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reported yesterday that the six Mexicans detained at the Ktziot detention center in Israel after participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla bound for Gaza have voluntarily agreed to be repatriated to Mexico, and immediate steps have been taken with the authorities in that country to ensure the process is carried out as quickly as possible.

The Mexican ambassador to Israel, Mauricio Escanero, met with six Mexicans: Arlin Medrano, Ernesto Ledesma, Carlos Pérez Osorio, Sol González, Laura Alejandra Vélez Ruiz, and Diego Vázquez. According to the Foreign Ministry, all are in good health and expressed their gratitude for the consular assistance they received during their journey, as well as for the support provided since their arrest.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that it is also maintaining communication with the compatriot who was traveling on the flotilla’s legal support vessel, who is also doing well. The Ministry emphasized that it remains in constant contact with the families of the detainees and reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the safety of its compatriots under all circumstances.

Meanwhile, in Mexico, members of the Global Movement to Gaza Mexico held a demonstration in front of the Israeli Embassy in the Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood to demand the release of the six Mexicans.

Dozens of people participated in the protest, during which officers from the Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat installed a metal fence and patrolled the diplomatic mission.

Activists demanded that the Mexican government increase diplomatic efforts to protect participants in the Global Sumud Flotilla, as well as halt the genocide in Gaza and sever relations with Tel Aviv.

Before the protest, activists delivered a letter to the United Nations (UN) offices in Polanco supporting the United for Peace initiative, promoted by Colombian President Gustavo Petro, which seeks international measures to curb violence in the region.
