The vessel was intercepted in international waters, 366 nautical miles south of Huatulco, during a maritime patrol and surveillance operation in which air and surface units of the Mexican Navy took part.
According to the Security Cabinet, the seizure represents an estimated economic loss of 289,104,000 pesos for criminal groups and prevented approximately 2,536,000 doses of drugs from reaching the population.
Aboard the vessel were 46 bundles containing approximately 1,268 kilograms of presumed cocaine. The six crew members were detained and, after being informed of their rights, were placed at the disposal of the competent authorities.
Both the vessel and the seized drugs were transferred to the facilities of the Twenty-Second Naval Zone, in Puerto Chiapas, to later be handed over to the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), in coordination with the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
The FGR will determine the official weight of the seized substance, which will be added to the more than 90 tons of drugs seized at sea by naval personnel during the current administration.
