Over 11 Billion Pesos to be Invested in Purchase of 816 Medical Equipment Units for 2026
President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the purchase of 816 high-tech medical equipment units for almost 11.26 billion pesos (US$652.47 million). The largest allocation will go to Mexico City, with distribution among the IMSS, ISSSTE, IMSS-Bienestar, PEMEX, and National Health Institutes.
Early Prevention Can Reduce Risk of Diabetes by Up to 60%
Minister of Health David Kershenobich emphasized that diabetes is preventable and that early intervention can reduce the risk of developing it by 40% to 60%. He warned that a family history of the disease significantly increases the likelihood of an individual developing it and called for strengthening prevention and primary care.
ISSSTE Announces 241 Healthcare Projects for 2026
The Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) reported a plan for 241 healthcare work projects: 200 clinics in priority areas, 13 hospitals, 10 healthcare centers with expanded services, and 14 family medicine units, focused on the country’s most vulnerable regions.
“The Clinic is Ours” Program Improves Over 8,000 Healthcare Units
The Mexican Government presented the results of the “The Clinic is Ours” community program. It involved an investment of almost 4.61 billion pesos (US$267.11 million) that benefited 8,483 healthcare centers and resulted in 42,425 improvement measures being implemented, with direct community participation.
IMSS Makes the Largest Single Purchase of Medical Equipment in Its History
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) reported the direct acquisition of mammography and tomography equipment, resonators, and angiographs from their respective manufacturers, with an investment of almost 1.75 billion pesos (US$101.26 million). The purchases were made under transparency criteria and inter-institutional coordination.
Sheinbaum Exposes High Salaries of the Former Supreme Court Justices
The President presented a comparison of Supreme Court justices’ incomes between 2023 and 2026, noting that since September 2025, the new Court has eliminated benefits and privileges that do not correspond to the criteria of austere public service.
