Bilateral Relations and International Trade
President Claudia Sheinbaum described the U.S. government’s decision to increase tariffs on steel and aluminum to 50% as unfair.
She announced that she will meet with the Steel and Aluminum Industrial Chambers on Wednesday to evaluate the measures to be taken. In addition, Minister of Economy Marcelo Ebrard will hold a meeting on Friday with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to seek an agreement.
The President reaffirmed the collaboration between the governments of Mexico and the United States and said that if Secretary of State Marco Rubio visits Mexico, the goal will be to finalize a comprehensive agreement on collaboration and coordination on security and other issues.
Sheinbaum Insists on Dialogue with the CNTE: “We will never repress”
The President reaffirmed that dialogue with the National Teachers’ Coordinating Committee (CNTE) remains open, although there is still no final decision on the part of the dissident teachers. She reiterated that, despite the differences, the police will not be deployed and that the way to resolve the conflict is through agreements. Today at 11 a.m., the CNTE was scheduled to meet again at the Ministry of the Interior.
Lie Detector Test
During this segment, various fake news related to the judicial election were debunked:
- It is not true that the judicial election was a failure due to the participation of only 13 million voters.
- It is not true that it lacks legitimacy due to the use of personally written or instructive fold-out candidate guides many citizens used when voting.
- It is not true that the UN ordered the cancellation of the judicial election in Mexico.
- It is not true that the judicial election eliminated the category of “judicial career”.
- It is not true that the National Electoral Institute (INE) decided not to cancel the leftover ballots.
- It is not true that the government offered 800 million pesos (US$40.82 million) to the CNTE Oaxaca.
- It is not true that Shell is withdrawing from Mexico.

The Migrants’ Anti-Establishment Role
For those of us who believe that the fall of an empire occurs both from within and without, the uprisings in California and other states show us that we are facing an unprecedented possibility.

The Commitment to Human Dignity
If Caribbean and Central American countries bow to Washington’s latest pressure to expel Cuban medical brigades, how many more deaths will the empire cause?

Teachers In the Streets
All the teachers’ demands are justified, and repeal of the ISSSTE would not just benefit all public sector workers, but all workers, says teacher Ángel Custodio Guadarrama in this interview.
