El Tehuanito will Connect the Oaxaca Isthmus with the Mayan Train & National Railway System
It was reported that in December 2025 the “El Tehuanito” suburban train will begin operations, with two low-cost routes for the population of the Oaxacan Isthmus, covering 189 km. This will connect the Interoceanic Corridor with the Mayan Train, the Dos Bocas oil refinery, and the rest of the National Railway System, integrating southeast Mexico with the rest of the country.

Sheinbaum Confirms Arrest of Simón Levy in Lisbon
President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed, with a document issued by Lisbon authorities, that Simón Levy was detained on October 28, 2025, when trying to enter Portugal. She noted that Levy was released due to having European nationality but faces trial in Portugal. Sheinbaum explained this this is not a case of political persecution but rather a legal matter.
Foreign Policy & Statements by Christopher Landau
The President reiterated that Mexico decides its positions based on the principle of national self-determination. In the UN vote against the blockade of Cuba, most countries called for it to be lifted. There are differences with the United States, but everything can be resolved through dialogue and mutual respect.
FIFA’s Tax Exemptions Come from Peña Nieto; Regulation will be Sought
Sheinbaum clarified that tax exemptions for companies linked to the FIFA stem from contracts signed during Enrique Peña Nieto’s presidency, so they cannot be modified immediately. Nonetheless, she indicated that her administration will seek to regulate these benefits and balance the playing field for companies operating in Mexico.
Navy Law & Opposition Criticism
Sheinbaum pointed out the hypocrisy of the opposition: previously they illegally strengthened the Navy for espionage tasks linked to the U.S.—as in the cases of Pegasus and García Luna—and now question the law. The current reform only regulates and provides legal certainty for something they undertook without transparency.
AMLO, Approval, & Project Continuity
The President revealed that AMLO has 80% approval in internal government surveys. Sheinbaum stated she will not distance herself from the former president because the political project is one and the same. She denounced fake news spread by the opposition (NAIM, AIFA) and highlighted the importance of the Mañanera morning presidential press conference for informing the population without intermediaries.
