President Sheinbaum: Unlikely the Right Wing Will Return to Power in Mexico

The return of the right wing to power in Mexico has a “very low probability,” said President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, noting that this is not a “subjective perception ,” but rather that polls reflect that people are currently living better than before.

The President acknowledged that since taking office she has faced complex times, but her approval rating remains high: “We have experienced a new international situation that we did not have in 2024, an international situation marked by the arrival of President Donald Trump in the United States where he imposes tariffs and creates a condition, for example, where fuel is at $100.”

She emphasized that, although “we are in a very different global economic situation than we were in 2024” due to economic integration with the neighboring country to the north, the peso is stable, and inflation, despite a slight increase in the last 15 days, “remains at reasonable levels.”

Sheinbaum indicated that the financial outlook is positive for the country, which demonstrates the viability of the economic model, and that the government is working to strengthen both public and private investment.

“Even in this complex global situation that has reached Mexico, the economy is doing well; of course, we have to work harder to increase public and private investment, which is why we recently sent the initiative to Congress, to strengthen public investment through financial vehicles and to strengthen this new mixed investment scheme,” she concluded.
