Workers Party Candidate for Mayor of Santiago Sochiapan Murdered

Veracruz, Veracruz. Ignacio Pablo Sánchez, former Workers Party candidate for mayor of Santiago Sochiapan, in southern Veracruz, was murdered in the early evening of September 17.

The former mayor was inside his business, located in the municipal capital, when armed men arrived and opened fire on him.
During the attack, another person, as yet unidentified, also lost his life.
Municipal police officers arrived at the scene and responded to emergency calls made by local residents.
The motive for the execution is currently unknown, and authorities have not reported any arrests in connection with the incident.
Vicente Aguilar, leader of the Workers’ Party (PT) in Veracruz, confirmed and condemned the acts of violence against his former representative in the last electoral process.
“They just murdered him along with one of his assistants. They broke into his business and murdered him,” he said.
The mayor of Sochiapan has recently suffered at least two attacks against her, both of which she managed to survive.
