Mexico City. This Tuesday, the Mexico-People’s Republic of China Friendship Group, led by Representative Raymundo Vázquez Conchas (Morena), was established in the Chamber of Deputies. The group aims to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations in the political, economic, cultural, and social spheres.

The Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies, Paulina Rubio Fernández (PAN), celebrated “the bonds of friendship and mutual respect that have united our nations for more than 50 years. It is a strategic relationship that has fostered political dialogue and cooperation in areas such as investment, infrastructure, and cultural exchange, consistently strengthening our position as partners in various areas.”

“This meeting,” he indicated, “represents a special opportunity to highlight the bilateral relationship between our nations, in which a sense of mutual affinity, cooperation, and friendship has always prevailed throughout history.” He expressed his conviction that all international relations must be guided by mutual respect, legality, and the constant pursuit of reciprocal benefits.

He acknowledged that both nations have different political models, but this difference should never impede dialogue; “International cooperation does not require ideological common ground, but rather a great deal of transparency and institutional respect, which you will always find in this Chamber of Deputies.” He expressed his willingness to engage in respectful dialogue, always oriented toward the well-being of both peoples.

Strengthening The Ties That Unite Our Nations

Vázquez Conchas affirmed that assuming the presidency of this group represents a great responsibility and a firm commitment to strengthening the ties that unite our nations, with a view to continuing to build a lasting, respectful, and mutually beneficial relationship for both countries. This group responds to the vision of strengthening political, economic, cultural, and social ties, “but everything will always be based on mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and strategic cooperation.”

China, he said, is one of our main trading partners, and “we are united by a shared history of respect, collaboration, and friendship that has been built over more than five decades of diplomatic relations.” He acknowledged that Mexico-China cooperation can be a decisive factor in addressing global challenges such as climate change, food security, scientific innovation, and public health. He believed that collaboration in these areas is fundamental to the well-being of our societies.

Therefore, he noted that this group’s main mission is to facilitate legislative exchange and dialogue between our peoples, promoting agreements and collaborations that boost economic development and investment, fair trade, technology transfer, education, and culture. “This group will be an active and productive space in which representatives can exchange experiences with our Chinese counterparts, share legislative best practices, and contribute, through the legislative branch, to a stronger, more respectful, and fruitful bilateral relationship.”

Will To Strengthen Political Dialogue

The chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Representative Pedro Vázquez González (PT – Workers Party), stated that this is a space that symbolizes the nations’ desire to strengthen political dialogue, mutual cooperation, and understanding between the two countries. “The Mexican people recognize with respect and admiration the development that China has achieved in recent decades, and we are convinced that the relationship between Mexico and China has enormous potential yet to be developed.”
