Ayotzinapa Case: The Report on the New Lines of Investigation Will Be on Monday, Sheinbaum Announces

Villahermosa, Tabasco. The report on the new lines of investigation into the Ayotzinapa case will be on Monday, reported President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who, in response to the mobilization that mothers and fathers held yesterday at the National Human Rights Commission to reproach the exoneration of the Army, replied: “we have our investigations; we are not going to pass judgment, one way or the other, on the demonstrations that take place in the country, and particularly regarding the case.”

She said that “on Friday there were too many activities, tomorrow is the march for the 12 years of Ayotzinapa, and on Monday all the information will be given” by the Undersecretary for Human Rights, Arturo Medina, and the special prosecutor for the case, Mauricio Pazarán.

Regarding tomorrow’s mobilization, “we always seek, and we always make the call, for it to be peaceful.” She indicated that she will set out her position in more detail on Tuesday at the mañanera.

What we decided from the moment we took office, first with (former) Attorney General (Alejandro) Gertz and then with Attorney General Ernestina Godoy, is to pursue other lines of investigation that had not been followed, based on information both on the use of telephones that night (September 26, 2014) and early morning, and on other lines of investigation that we considered had not been sufficiently investigated.

And that, she maintained, “is what they are going to report on Monday: the attention to the parents, the number of searches there have been, as well as the new arrests that have been made and the reasons for these arrests, and from what scientific elements these lines of investigation start.”

She maintained that the mothers and fathers of Ayotzinapa “are informed” of all of it. “I was with them about a month ago; we are going to keep meeting and keep giving all the information.”
