Morena, PT, and PVEM Launch Registration Process for Aspirants to 2027 Candidacies

Mexico City. Under the slogan “United for the Transformation,” Morena, the Labor Party (PT), and the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) launched this Monday the registration process for the hopefuls who will define the so-called state coordinations for the defense of the transformation, a position that in this movement is a preliminary step toward the nomination of candidates for the 17 governorships that will be at stake in the 2027 elections.

At the World Trade Center in Mexico City, where dozens of supporters gathered, the hopefuls from Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, and Campeche will report in today.

Meanwhile, the president of the National Elections Commission of the guinda party, Citlalli Hernández, detailed that those who sign up “take on the commitment of joining in the territorial tasks.” They will have to submit letters in which they acknowledge that they know the rules, that a parity criterion will be applied, and “they accept under a sworn statement that they do not have a matter pending before the justice system, that they are not delinquent in child support payments and do not have a criminal matter,” while also accepting that information may be requested from the authorities to verify it. They will also submit a letter in which they accept that they understand the method is the survey and they accept the results.

“When an internal process has clear rules, has transparency, and has clear results, it is much easier for conviction to be placed above anything else,” she added at a press conference prior to the start of the registration.

She added that “we do not see ruptures or differences; we see a process of respect among compañeras and compañeros beginning, of respect for the rules on the part of the Elections Commission, and respect as well from those who decide to accept those rules upon registering.”

She also clarified that the same rules established in 2024 were not defined, since with a state process, a district one heading toward the federal congressional elections, and one more at the municipal level, each process will have its own call.

The party’s national president insisted that the process that begins today seeks to “strengthen territorial work throughout the country, because it is notable that there is a campaign by the national and international ultra-right against progressive projects in the world and especially in Mexico,” Montiel stated. She announced that they will be given a guide to carry out the assemblies for the defense of national sovereignty.
