President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that the Mexico-Pachuca Train will reduce travel time between the two cities to just one hour and 15 minutes, and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027. The project seeks not only to connect territories but also to boost economic and social development in the region.
During her visit to Villa de Tezontepec, Hidalgo, to oversee the progress of the railway project, the federal leader emphasized that construction is progressing at 4 percent and that, following the legal clearance of the right of way, work will accelerate.
She emphasized that this train represents a structural change for the center of the country and is part of a broader development strategy.

Sheinbaum Supervises Railway Works
On her seventh visit to Hidalgo since assuming the Presidency, Sheinbaum was accompanied by Governor Julio Menchaca , the commander of the Felipe Ángeles Engineering Group, Gustavo Vallejo Suárez, and other authorities. The tour took place at kilometer 37,250, at the former Zempoala railroad station, in the La Laguna and Jagüey de Téllez ejidos.
The supervision included the section that will connect the Villa de Tezontepec station with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) , where military and civilian engineers, along with construction workers, are already performing leveling, gravel laying, and preparing sleepers for the rails. Heavy machinery from the Mexican Army -, cargo trucks, and temporary storage centers are part of the construction logistics.

General Gustavo Vallejo explained that approximately six thousand people are participating in the project, working on the existing right-of-way to build exclusive passenger routes. He explained that elevated viaducts have been started from Zapotlán de Juárez to Tizayuca and the vicinity of the AIFA, with the creation of embankments and platforms parallel to the existing freight rail line.
Sheinbaum thanked the military engineers and the Armed Forces for their discipline, honesty, and professionalism, reiterating that “the transformation is moving forward” and that the train will be ready on schedule.

Government Plans Construction of Well-being Hub
The president announced that, alongside the Mexico-Pachuca Train, a Wellbeing Hub will be developed on a 950-hectare plot of land owned by the Hidalgo government. This complex will integrate industry, housing, schools, hospitals, and public spaces, becoming a new engine of growth for the region.
Sheinbaum thanked the ejidatarios for their support in carrying out both projects and emphasized that the development will be inclusive: “The idea is not that there will be development without you, but rather the opposite: that you be part of this national development project, because our vision is the well-being of the people of Mexico.”
Governor Julio Menchaca emphasized that these projects respond to a “historical debt with Hidalgo” and represent multimillion-dollar investments that will boost connectivity and economic growth. He announced that other rail and infrastructure projects that will benefit the state will soon be announced, including a possible Mexico-Veracruz highway, a water plan, and the Huasteca link to the north.
According to Sheinbaum , the combination of the train and the Wellness Hub will generate “very significant” development between 2025 and 2026 by combining efficient transportation, employment, services, and housing.
