Emergency Response

Two weeks after the torrential rainfall and flood emergency, the Mexican government reports that 195 previous impassable roads have been cleared and 99% of electric power has been restored.

979 damaged schools have been attended to, over 85,000 homes surveyed for the Well-Being Ministry census, and more than 52,000 public servants deployed in the affected areas.

Direct Aid Delivery Begins Following Torrential Rains

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the start of the direct delivery of aid in Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí.

The process begins with a house-to-house census. A numbered wristband is placed on the affected party and with it, families can go to the Bienestar module to receive a voucher that allows them to acquire two food baskets without intermediaries.

In Hidalgo, aid delivery will start Sunday due to difficulties in accessing isolated communities.

Passenger Trains: the Country’s New Railway Era Moves Forward

The Mexican government reported that 23.1 million m² of land has been acquired, with agreements in 127 semi-communal land holdings known as ejidos, 50 community assemblies, and with the participation of over 1,300 landowners.

The México–Querétaro Train line is 4.8% completed on its 226 km of double track and has generated 8,500 jobs, while progress on the CDMX–Pachuca Train is at 9.1% on 57.6 km, with work underway on bridges and overpasses, foundations, and archaeological and forestry studies.

The Querétaro station of the México City–Querétaro–Irapuato line will be built in the switchyard of the Old Querétaro Station, without affecting the Alcanfores Park or the city’s Historic Center.

The Gulf of Mexico Train line is advancing in CDMX, Hidalgo, Querétaro, Coahuila, Tamaulipas, and Nuevo León, while in Jalisco, San Luis Potosí, and Sinaloa technical studies are being conducted to enable work to begin.

The President emphasized that all the work is proceeding without intermediaries, with direct engagement with communities, based on a conception of territorial justice and regional development with the population at the center.

Fair Fiscal Policy

Sheinbaum denied that new taxes would be applied on the population. She explained that the taxes apply to banks, foreign bidders, and migration fees, not to individual citizens. The only consumption taxes are those already existing on soft drinks.

Combatting “invoice mills”

Efforts are underway to eradicate phantom companies that illegally produce invoices. The Tax Administration System (SAT) will strengthen controls and monitoring to prevent tax evasion and corruption.
