The security strategy is working: homicides down 51%
In 22 months, homicides have fallen 51%, from 86.9 to 42.5 per day, 44 fewer murders each day. July posted the lowest figures in the past 12 years.
The reduction in violence is advancing across the country
The daily average number of homicides in 30 states declined compared to 2025. Guanajuato stands out with a -76% reduction, Guerrero -61%, State of Mexico -59%, Sinaloa -52%, Morelos -51%, and Baja California -48%.
Cooperation yes, shared responsibility as well
Of the more than 30,000 weapons that have been seized, around 80% come from the U.S. “We have asked for more work in the United States to prevent weapons from reaching Mexico,” President Claudia Sheinbaum said.
“We do not cover up for anyone”
In relation to the investigations into fuel smuggling with falsified invoices, known as “huachicól fiscal,” it was clarified that the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR) is investigating the entry of fuel from the U.S., while the Agency for Security, Energy, and the Environment (ASEA) is being strengthened, along with QR code tracking and information cross-checking by the Tax Administration Service (SAT).
Today there is freedom, and audiences have rights
The President recalled that previously those who fought to transform the country were spied upon, persecuted, imprisoned, and forcibly disappeared; today there is full freedom of expression and audience rights are being strengthened.
What was recovered from García Luna will be returned to the people
It was reported that nearly US$500,000 recovered from Genaro García Luna, former Minister of Security who is currently imprisoned in the United States on drug trafficking charges, has already been deposited into the Treasury and will be allocated for a special purpose. The Financial Investigation Unit (UIF) will soon present further details.
