Popular Socialist Party of Mexico: Stop Repression and Persecution of Migrants in US
Statement released by the Partido Popular Socialista de México.
In the face of the government’s failure to implement its plan and the worsening of contradictions within North American imperialism, the far-right administration of Donald Trump has initiated massive raids against immigrants with the aim of deporting them and, in this way, cleaning up its image among its voters.
In response, the migrant population of Los Angeles, California has carried out massive protests and demonstrations, which have been harshly repressed by the militarized National Guard and by the deployment of Marines in the city, with the threat of increasing military force to quell all popular resistance.

In response, the Popular Socialist Party of Mexico expresses its strongest condemnation of the escalation of violence exerted by the imperialist and ultra-conservative government of Donald Trump against the migrant population and categorically repudiates the use of force against our migrant brothers and sisters from Mexico and Latin America who resist the oppressive onslaught of the Yankee federal government.
As President Claudia Sheinbaum has expressed, migrants are not criminals but honest workers who contribute their labour to the economy and society of the United States and their countries of origin by sending remittances. They are an integral part of the country’s productive life and, without distinction of origin, skin colour, or language, should enjoy the same fundamental rights that protect every person.
For this reason, we denounce the federal government of the United States as the main violator of the human and labour rights of migrant workers, whom it denies the right to a dignified life; a neo-fascist government that promotes chaos and violence to criminalize legitimate social protest and imprison social leaders.
The Popular Socialist Party of Mexico, while condemning the repression, expresses its solidarity with our countrymen working in the United States and requests the Mexican government to provide all necessary legal and material support to Mexican workers in the neighbouring country.
Likewise, it demands the creation of more and better jobs in our own country, so that our compatriots are not forced to emigrate in search of better living conditions.
For national liberation and socialism,
