President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the mansion of drug kingpin Negro Durazo will be converted into a university and a high school, with an investment of more than 150 million pesos (US$8.33 million). In addition, 800 million pesos (US$44.45 million) will be allocated to the Pension Fund for Well-Being, and 200 million pesos (US$11.11 million) recovered from the case of former Security Minister García Luna, currently imprisoned in the United States, will go to schools in Guerrero.

More Public Education for Youth
Rosario Castellanos University will open 28 new campuses in 20 states and 10 more in the eastern part of Mexico City. Sheinbaum announced an arts high school for 1,200 young students in Tlalpan, as part of the goal to create 400,000 new educational spaces during her six-year term in office.

Security: Homicides and High-Impact Crimes Decline
Sheinbaum noted that under former president Felipe Calderón, the average daily number of homicides rose from 24 to 74, and under Enrique Peña, they reached 100. In contrast, under the Fourth Transformation (4T), they fell to 47.1; high-impact crimes have declined by 36%, and the perception of public insecurity decreased to 35.9%.

Mexico Strengthens Its Exports Despite Tariffs
Sheinbaum highlighted the Economic Commission on Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC)’s projections on the growth of Mexican exports, driven by the electronics and automotive industries, as well as by the opening of new markets in Europe and Japan.
