US Undersecretary of State Feelings Hurt by Tweet, Cancels Visa

Mexico City. U.S. Undersecretary of State Christopher Landau ordered the revocation of the visa of Melissa Cornejo , Morena advisor in Jalisco , after she published a message on social media using “vulgar” language , which she accompanied with a photograph of the protests in Los Angeles against immigration raids .
In the image, a man poses with the Mexican flag in front of a car that bears the legend “Fuck ICE,” a reference to the US immigration agency.
The Morena member accompanied the post with a phrase expressing her rejection of the US government’s decision: “Long live the people and shove my visa up your ass.”

The US official responded directly to Cornejo on X, where he stated that he had ordered his visa to be cancelled after seeing the message.
“I can’t include your visa in there, but I can inform you that I personally ordered it canceled after seeing this vulgar post,” he wrote in a first comment.
However, he clarified that Cornejo didn’t even have a valid visa that could be canceled, according to official information: “And you shouldn’t be surprised by what they told me: you don’t even have a valid visa to cancel. How easy it is to talk about your contempt for ‘my visa’ on social media when you don’t have one.”
Finally, the US Deputy Foreign Secretary maintained that “those who glorify violence and defiance of legitimate authorities and public order (“FU** ICE”) are in no way welcome” in his country.
Morena Visa Withdrawls
Melissa Cornejo isn’t the first official linked to Morena to have her visa revoked. Recently, Óscar Eduardo Castro Castro, Mayor of Puerto Peñasco, had his visa revoked while trying to cross the border with his family.

Another political figure who has been hit is Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar, who stated that the revocation of her visa did not affect her work. Her husband, Carlos Torres Torres, also lost his document.
