Mexico to Host 9th Continental Solidarity with Cuba Meeting

From October 9 to 12, 2025 , Mexico City will host the IX Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba , a key space to strengthen international support for the Cuban Revolution in the face of the economic blockade, disinformation campaigns, and current challenges.

In an interview with Prensa Latina, Aline Pérez, of the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, highlighted the strengthening of regional integration and support for the Revolution among the main objectives of the event to be held in this capital.

As part of this, she emphasized the fight against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation, as well as the demand to remove it from Washington’s unilateral list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

She also emphasized the importance of supporting the work of Cuba’s medical brigades and expressed her gratitude for the presence of these health professionals, who are helping and saving lives, even in remote areas of the country where local specialists have not been able to reach.

For his part, Israel Bretón, also a member of the Movement and part of the organizing team, told this agency that another key element will be how to orchestrate actions at the continental level to directly benefit Cuba, given the continued US blockade.

He also mentioned the importance of defending the island’s right to self-determination.

Speaking online at a press conference held at the Havana embassy here to launch the meeting, Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, pointed out the efforts of various U.S. administrations to destroy the Cuban Revolution.

“We must aim for the Meeting to be a real contribution to confronting the current counterrevolutionary offensive of US imperialism, in pursuit of the broadest possible unity of leftist forces in the region, strengthening militant solidarity for Cuba and for the just causes defended by our peoples,” he stated.

He called for new ways to articulate and globalize solidarity, tailored to current situations in the geographic area and around the world.

González emphasized that with this meeting in Mexico, they will be concluding an important cycle of continental gatherings for the 2024-2025 period. “These events are of great significance, as they provide collective spaces for coordination to strengthen solidarity efforts for Cuba in the face of US hostility.”

“We will work to coordinate strategies in defense of the Cuban Revolution that compel us to strengthen, from our respective spaces, a common front to bolster resistance and Latin American and Caribbean unity in support of the region’s proclamation as a zone of peace,” he added.

He expressed his gratitude to the Latin American and Caribbean Solidarity Movement for the support received in response to the recent energy crisis, as well as the impacts of hurricanes Oscar and Rafael, and the earthquakes that struck the eastern provinces of Granma and Santiago de Cuba.

José Maury, the political advisor at the diplomatic mission in Mexico, told Prensa Latina that the media war against the island is currently also aimed at demobilizing its friends.

“We believe that the IX meeting, first and foremost, strengthens Cuba’s cause and helps new friends join the movement,” Maury noted, adding that another objective is to strengthen the organization of solidarity with his country and coordinate support movements.

The event will bring together delegates from organizations of the Cuba Solidarity Movement in Latin America and the Caribbean, other social movements, as well as intellectuals, artists, and personalities from the continent, at the National Center for the Arts and the Los Pinos Cultural Complex (Mexico City), with a program that includes:
